Last day of the 5th INTERNATIONAL ADVANCED SCHOOL IN AGRICULTURAL METEOROLOGY!
We had the pleasure to host engaging lectures by Josef Eitzinger, Ana Firanj Sremac, and Branislava Lalic (CA20108 COST Action), who explored key aspects of urban and rural environments.

We close this inspiring edition with a lecture by Francesco Ferrini (University of Florence): “Urban Forestry vs. Urban Heat: Reclaiming the Micro-Climate for Livable Cities.”
Rethinking the city for a climate-challenged future!

Agromet School 2025 – 4th Day

Today we focused on several aspects useful for data analysis and experimental designs in the field, calibration of DSSAT models and programming for forecasting in agronomic trials, with trainers all from Università Politecnica delle Marche.
The morning lessons were preparatory for what we then saw in the field during the visit to the D3A
Didactic and Experimental Farm “Pasquale Rosati”. A group of students from UNIVPM and a group from China joined us in the field visit in a sunny and hot afternoon.

Agromet School 2025 – 3rd day

The 3rd day of the school The second day of the school focused on the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning for data analysis to enhance the understanding and interpretation of complex environmental datasets and the use of AI in plant protection.
Lectures were delivered by Alessandro Montaghi (CNR-IRET).
The session was welcomed by the students and they were actively involved by very engaging teachers.

Agromet School 2025 – 2nd Day

The second day of the school focused on microscale exchanges between the atmosphere and vegetation of energy and gases at the microscale. Particular attention was paid to Eddy covariance, a micrometeorological technique used to measure the vertical fluxes of various properties (such as heat, water vapor and gases) between the Earth’s surface and the atmosphere. Lectures were delivered by F. Carotenuto, D. Famulari, M. Nardino from CNR-IBE. The session was chaired by Anna Dalla Marta (University of Florence).

AgroMetSchool 2025 Kicks Off in Ancona

The AgroMetSchool, 5th Edition just started this morning in Ancona, hosted by Department of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Sciences D3A of the Polytechnic University of Marche.

The opening session of the School marked the official welcome to the participants, with introductory remarks by:

Prof. Davide Neri, Director of the Department of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Sciences (D3A), Polytechnic University of Marche
Gen. Luca Baione, Permanent Representative of Italy to the WMO
Prof. Branislava Lalic, Leader of the COST FAIRNESS Action (CA20108)
Prof. Gabriele Cola, Vice-President of AIAM
Dr. Marina Baldi, Coordinator of the WMO Regional Training Centre in Italy

Dr. Andrea Salvucci opened the keynote session with a lecture on salt accumulation in cultivated and abandoned dry soils in the context of climate change, and on strategies to mitigate the effects of salinization.
